On October 27, 2023 International Relations Office and UKSW Welcome Centre organized the first Polish Culture Day full of dumplings, traditional dances and Polish language. The event was directed to all UKSW international students!
The Polish Culture Day started with official greeting by the Director of the International Relations Department who welcomed UKSW international students on behalf of herself and the Vice-Rector for Science and International Relations. Official welcome was followed by exceptional workshop on Polish national dances conducted by dr. Barbara Głasek from the UKSW School of Physical Education. All gathered student took a dance lesson during which they practiced such Polish dances as oberek, polonaise or krakowiak.
After dance workshop filled with lots of laughter and fun dr Vira Neszew together with Agata Królak and Jolanta Zalewska from UKSW School of Polish Language and Culture conducted Polish language lesson. Students had the opportunity to learn some basic words and phrases useful in everyday life.
Next, the time has come for… Polish “pierogi”! Mrs. Danuta Kosińska, Team Member of UKSW Welcome Centre put on a show of making traditional Polish dumplings. Students had the opportunity to test their culinary skills in practice and make some dumplings on their own. Afterwards they were treated with professionally prepared “pierogi” stuffed with various fillings.
Last but not least a rousing workshop on Polish traditions and customs were conducted by Fr. Dr. Mariusz Boguszewski from the Faculty of Theology at UKSW.

Polish Culture Day wouldn’t be such a success if not the help of some UKSW Units.
