Doctoral studies are a part of the Third-Cycle Studies

They are designed for candidates interested in scientific work and a scientific career.  They are carried out in a full-time as well as non-residential mode. Doctoral students attend lectures, run classes with students or assist in them and take part in research under supervision. The aim of doctoral studies is to educate a highly skilled academic staff. The most gifted doctoral students receive a doctoral scholarship and after having obtained the degree of doktorat (equivalent to a doctorate degree), can continue their career at scientific and teaching posts at the university.

Doctoral studies at the UKSW are carried out at seven faculties:
  • Faculty of Theology (in the scope of Theology)
  • Faculty of Christian Philosophy (in the scope of Philosophy and Psychology)
  • Faculty of Canon Law (in the scope of Canon law)
  • Faculty of History and Social Science (in the scope of History, Political Studies, Sociology and Archeology)
  • Faculty of Law and Administration (in the scope of Law)
  • Faculty of Mathematics and Science and the School of Exact Sciences (in the scope of Physics and Mathematics)
  • Faculty of Humanities (in the scope of Literary Studies)
In addition, the following faculties are also entitled to grant the doctoral degree:
  • Faculty of Education (in the scope of Education Studies)
Admission of foreigners

Candidates for doctoral studies of nationality other than Polish must address the Education Department (Dewajtis 5, room no. 038; 561 89 07), prior to submitting their documents in order to obtain an attestation on the basis on which they can be accepted to doctoral studies.
