Learning outcomes

Traditional education systems, which were mostly oriented at teachers, are being replaced by systems where the student has become more empowered.
The process of developing the European Higher Education Area ( the Bologna Process) has brought a major change in the way the goals of the teaching process are perceived. Study programmes are developed on the basis of their usefulness to the graduate in achieving a desired position in the society. A stronger emphasis has been placed on competences rather than knowledge alone, which has resulted in the following definition of the basic learning goals Bologne Declaration states that the basic learning goals of education at academic level are the following:

Preparing graduates for the labour market,
Preparing students to be active citizens in a democratic society, also the European one,
Developing and maintaining a satisfactory level of an advanced knowledge,
Personal development of students .

Clearly defined learning outcomes have become the basis for developing study programmes.
